BLUE HOLE MEMORIES

SWIMMING IN THE SAND PITS, DOES THAT BRING BACK MEMORIES. WE MOVED INTO MINDEN BACK 1953. WE LIVED OVER BY THE FAIR GROUNDS AND THEN MOVED CLOSE TO THE WEST SIDE SCHOOL.

WE HAD SEVERAL OLDER COUSINS WHO LIVED IN MINDEN AND KNEW ALL THE GOOD FISHING AND SWIMMING HOLES. THE BEST SWIMMING HOLE BY FAR WAS THE BLUE HOLE. WE SPENT MANY A DAY ENJOYING THE SAND BEACH AND CLEAR WATER.

I WAS STILL YOUNG DURING THIS TIME PERIOD AND IF I WENT SKINNY DIPPING IT WAS JUST A BUNCH OF BOY OUR AGE NOT WANTING TO EXPLAIN WHY OUR CLOTHES WERE WET WHEN WE GOT HOME. HOWEVER WE DID HEAR THE STORIES. THE BEST WAS WHEN SOMEONE POURED OIL IN THE BLUE HOLE TO KEEP PEOPLE FROM SWIMMING AND DRINKING AND HAVING A GOOD TIME, WELL AS THE STORY GOES THE KIDS SHOWED UP AFTER DARK AND JUMP IN AND OF COURSE GOT COVERED IN OLD USED BULK OIL. I THINK IT WAS HARD FOR THE GIRLS TO EXPLAIN MORE SO THEN THE BOYS.

EVERY TIME I COME BACK SOUTH FROM  ARIZONA I ALWAYS STOP IN MINDEN DRIVE ALL THE OLD PLACES AND WALK THRU THE OLD CEMETERY, LOOK UP DEWEY MORGAN AND DRIVE AROUND JUST SEEING THAT TOWN THAT I LOVED IN MY CHILDHOOD.

LOVE THE WEB SITE AND VISIT IT OFTEN. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
