“Jimmy” entered the U.S. Army in April 1944, and served with the Corps of
Engineers in the European Theater of Operations including Holland, Belgium,
France and Germany until the end of the war.   After a stint of duty at
Pittsburg, Pa., he returned to Germany for a tour with the occupation
forces.  Stationed at Fort Eustis, Va., in 1950, he was sent to Korea upon
the outbreak of hostilities where he served 26-months with the Combat
Engineers.  He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1953. He and his
family lived in Minden and Sibley until his death in November 1980.
